Lewis has been practicing law since 1992, beginning by gathering litigation experience in the Criminal Courts of British Columbia. After a few years Lewis’ practice branched out to include ICBC claims, Family Law, drafting Wills and probating Estates as well as obtaining injunctions and conducting trials for small businesses. Lewis has handled cases in British Columbia’s Provincial Court, Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal, as well as the Federal Court. Lewis’ preferred areas of practice are Family Law, Wills and Estate and Criminal matters.

Family Law

Lewis has assisted clients with: ​

  • mediation and collaborative work to successful negotiated settlements of all property issues

  • the fair division of assets and constructive trust claims for common-law couples

  • preparing for and arguing Chambers Hearings

  • assisting in the preparation of Court required Financial Statements

  • contested trials involving custody, guardianship and access to children as well as financial issues of support and property division

  • applying for emergency Hague Convention Orders for the return of internationally abducted children 

 

Criminal Law

Lewis has represented clients:

  • charged with murder, arson, sexual assault, assault with a weapon, drug trafficking, cultivation of marijuana and many other charges

  • on both summary conviction and indictable charges

  • conducting jury trials in Supreme Court

  • arguing Summary Trials

  • prosecuting and defending Supreme Court trials and Small Claims trials

 

Wills and Estates

  • probating Estates and obtaining Letters of Administration

  • challenging the division of assets through a Wills Variation Act trial

 

ICBC Claims

Lewis has assisted clients in:

  • negotiating fair personal injury claims

  • arguing trials to successfully recover damages for stolen or damaged vehicles

  • pursuing legal actions for clients to obtain compensation for personal injuries and wage-loss
